FAQ
What does the name 'pecuniator' mean?
It comes from the Latin word "pecunia" (meaning money) combined with the suffix "-ator" (one who does). It's a tool for managing and analyzing your financial portfolio offline.
Why is the program a desktop application?
We are primarily web developers. parqet.com has strict and state-of-the-art data protection requirements, and we don't want to compromise this principle, not even with anonymous data. We prefer not to handle any third-party data, so we made the tool a desktop app only. This way, no data is ever transmitted over the network.
Will there be a mobile version of the app?
No, we've decided against a mobile version for this application, mainly because the benefits do not justify the costs.
What does 'CC' mean in the exported spreadsheet?
'CC' stands for 'Country Code'.
Is the program actively maintained?
Since we have a paid account with parqet.com, the program might be updated to reflect any changes. It's also possible that new features will be added, especially since parqet is considering its own API. However, these are plans for the future. It's crucial to understand that pecuniator is designed to provide extra features only. If these features become unnecessary, they won't be developed further. Pecuniator is not meant to compete but to complement by offering additional functions.
Why does the app cost money on the Microsoft Store?
Developing software takes time, especially when aiming to distribute it through secure channels. We believe the fee is reasonable and it encourages further development and support when needed.
Why is the silicone macOS version not in the macOS store?
Every piece of development, no matter its size, requires time. We need to create installers, certify the programs (to ensure user safety), and compile and test them across different platforms. We are doing this. Adding a macOS App to the Apple Store is a lot of additional work, which we are not willing to do at the moment. We are happy to provide the program for free on our website:
That's the reason behind the small coffee symbol on macOS. If you find the program useful and want to support my independent development as a way to say thank you, you're welcome to contribute a little something. Even if you see the value in the program but don't have a penny to spare because all your resources are tied up, you can still use the program for free.
